Sightseeing
For spectacular scenery, history and wildlife, visit the parks and try some of the scenic highways and byways in the area (and don’t forget to catch the sunset on the beautiful White Cliffs behind Arrowhead). Also look for petroglyphs, Anasazi Indian ruins, pioneer forts, movie sets, art galleries and more nearby.

Hiking in and around Zion National Park

Hiking - for All Ages and Abilities
Trails for hiking are available in almost every park and monument. For more information on hiking in the parks, please check out our Itinerary page. For those who wish to stay a little closer to the home base, you can also find hiking trails starting in Arrowhead’s back yard that will take you to the base of the nearby White Cliffs.

Hiking to the White Cliffs of Mt. Carmel
The beautiful White Cliffs of the Elkhart Mountains are the stunning back-drop to Arrowhead Country Inn. Follow a trail that winds through meadows and juniper trees on the way to a spectacular sandstone slot canyon at the base of the White Cliffs. After a breakfast of Strawberry Cheese Blintzes or Raspberry Waffles, head down the hill to the gate to get started. From there, you can reach the base of the White Cliffs, where a sandstone slot canyon awaits. When you reach the slot canyon, rest and relax for a few minutes in the cool and shady canyon mouth. Or, in the drier times of the year, you can hike into the slot canyon for quite a ways, though some climbing is involved and teamwork will be necessary. Then, head back to Arrowhead and take a refreshing dip in the pool before spending the afternoon exploring Zion National Park or Bryce.
